Larina Chavez-Vassup is the owner and director of Studio Elite. She graduated from California State University, San Bernardino in 2002 with a degree in Kinesiology. She currently holds a California teaching credential and is employed with the Chaffey Joint Union High School District as the dance instructor for Rancho Cucamonga High School. Her many years of experience include: gymnastics, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip-hop, tap, ballet, production, salsa, and musical theatre. She has also choreographed for the Chaffey High School drama department for many of their productions. Larina teaches workshops throughout the southern California area and has performed worldwide. She has worked on the set of ABC’s General Hospital and Keeping up WIth the Kardashians. Larina has choreographed productions such as Guys and Dolls, Peter Pan, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the world premiere of Willy Wonka, Disney’s High School Musical, and the Disney World Premiere of Camp Rock – The Musical.
Markel Vessup is one of our gymnastics instructors here at Studio Elite. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. While there, he was on the Gymnastics and Tumbling team. He has been an assistant instructor since 2008 for Rose-Ann A’Jontue at Cal Poly, Pomona. He assists in the gymnastics, trampoline, and tumbling classes. He is also an instructor for Flips Gymnastics.
Nadine Timm received her BA in Dance at Montclair State University in New Jersey. Ms. Timm trained at “The New Jersey Ballet,” as well as in Florida and New York City. Throughout the years she has taken master classes from such artists as Twyla Tharp, Paul Taylor, Merce Cunningham, Pilobulus, and Edward Villela. Ms. Timm was a Principal dancer with “The Kennedy Dancers,” in N.J., a contemporary ballet company. Ms. Timm has taught Ballet, Pointe, tap, jazz, modern and creative movement classes in New Jersey, New York and California for the past 15 years. She was the Co-owner of IEAA Ballet School for 5 years.
In 2011-2012 Ms. Timm worked with Chaffey High School Theatre Co. as the Head Choreographer for the Andrew Lloyd Webber’s authorized production of “The Phantom of The Opera”, and is currently in pre-production for Disney’s, “The Little Mermaid”. She also teaches master classes at Los Oso HS. She has been with “Studio Elite”, since it opened, as the head Ballet Instructor, developing the ballet curriculum.
Kay Bast has studied all aspects of the performing arts with an emphasis on choreography and directlng. She has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Dance. Her vast experience in dance includes work in movies, television, stage, and ice shows. She has owned and operated her own dance studios for over 50 years including: Karolyn’s Dance in Covina, The Talent Factory In Chino and The Dance Gallery in Alta Lorna. She ls the author of the book “Tap: The Dance of Sound” for which she produced an educational film wlth the same name. Her former students have performed professionally in Broadway Musicals (Wicked, Rent, & West Side Story) and at Disneyland Resorts. She has also worked with International governments and directors helping to promote the performing arts.
